3 Reasons why having multiple side hustles is smart

Jobs and careers usually are talked about as singular things—"I need to get a job" , or "This is my career". But what if doing just one thing doesn't make as much sense as it used to? There are three main reasons why more is better when it comes to side hustles:

You will have backups.

Starting a business isn't ever a sure thing—sometimes we can put our all into something, and it just doesn't bring the results we want. It is nice to have a backup to bring in money while you restructure your other business so it can be more successful. Also, business always comes in waves—sometimes you will be turning people away because you're so busy, and other times, you will have extra time to work on other things. Having another side hustle helps fill in the gaps so you can always pay your bills.

Boredom won't be a thing.

Having more than one way to make money also means that you will be able to switch back and forth between different jobs, ensuring that you have different (and more exciting) things to do on the regular. Even if you love your work, switching gears every once in awhile will keep your outlook fresh and your mind engaged.

Specializing makes you more valuable.

Managing multiple side hustles in different areas means that you have more than one specialty, and that, in and of itself, can make you more successful. For instance, if your main business is plumbing, but you have a side hustle doing landscaping, you will be more likely to get hired by homeowners who need two specialists—one for the yard and one for plumbing. This makes you super valuable to customers, and more likely to get repeat business!

Having one job or one business is fine (and might be exactly what works for you), but sometimes putting your eggs in more than one basket is the best solution.
